Installation

Simple. Drop in the module and enable it.

Configuration

A bunch of checkboxes to enable what buttons to display on toolbar.
No options for limiting what forms this will appear on.

Usability

From a user standpoint this WYSIWYG editor is as simple as using a word processor. Even with all available buttons enabled the toolbar is easy to understand.

Clean Output

At first I was expecting very simple and clean output because of the modules simplicity. When I submitted the node I saw the word “span” randomly scattered throughout my post. So I went to view source to see if some tags were not closed properly, but that was not the case. It was actually the word “span” placed next to my text. Weird.

Handles Images

Images can be referenced through urls. So, if images are hosted on external domain you run the risk of images being deleted not appear because of privacy restrictions.

Works w/ Asset Modules

Nope

Cool Features

It's all ran through javascript, the main javascript is hosted from the 3rd party website developing the nicEdit js file. So that means when an update gets made or bug gets fixed it's automatically reflected on sites running nicEdit. This was also a slight downfall because the script took a few seconds to load, I'd suggest using a local cache version that gets refreshed daily like the google analytics modules offers.

This module is still in development stage so I look forward to seeing improvements in the few bugs I've ran into so far.
